About the game
What exactly is Pusoy, and why do Filipinos love it so much?
Pusoy — sometimes called Filipino poker or Pineapple poker in other markets — is a thirteen-card strategy game played by four participants. Each person receives thirteen cards and arranges them into three separate groups: a back hand of five cards, a middle hand of five cards, and a front hand of three cards. The back hand must rank the strongest, the middle hand the second strongest, and the three-card front hand the weakest of the three.
The social dimension is a huge part of the appeal. In living rooms around Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, and really any town with a table and a full deck, a Pusoy session moves between genuine strategy and friendly banter. Players watch each other's reveals closely, celebrate a clean sweep, and groan when a foul hand wipes out the points they had already earned from two strong positions.
At desk games, the interface captures that rhythm while removing the logistical challenge of gathering everyone in the same room. You can play when the group chat is quiet, during a short break, or late in the evening when the household is winding down. The session length is flexible and the table format familiar.
